Come and see the EBAA at the International Electric Vehicle Festival in Canberra on Sunday 25 September. A variety of electric boats and motors will be on display. There will be sail pasts at the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin and the opportunity to board an electric boat and see how it all works!

The EBAA organises its first meet-up on Saturday 11 June in Sydney. Members will go on an electric boat trip, followed by the AGM and dinner afterwards.

Come and visit our stand at the 10th Newport Timber Boat Festival during the weekend of 6-7 November.

Organised by the Royal Motor Yacht Club on Pittwater, there will be some 60 classic and wooden boats on display. The EBAA will be present with a stall in conjuction with Eco Boats Australia. October 2010 - Electric Boating Pavilion at CWBF

The EBAA was present at the Sydney Classic & Wooden Boat Show on the weekend of 16-17 October in Darling Harbour, Sydney. In association with Eco Boats Australia there was a range of products such as inboard and outboard motors on display and people could come for free rides with a Duffy electric boat through Cockle Bay.

Some 10.000 visitors attended the festival and there was a good level of interest in electric boating, which shows that more and more people are discovering the benefits of quiet and clean propulsion.

See us also at the Davistown PuttPutt regatta on Sunday 24 October on the Central Coast and at the Newport Timber Boat Festival on the weekend of 6-7 November on Pittwater.

September 2010 - New sections added to the EBAA website

Spring is in the air and its time to get your boat ready for the new season! We have added some new sections to the website including the ‘members boats’ section and the ‘Australian electric boat forum’. The forum is accessible to all who have an interest in electric boating (both EBAA members and non-members). Members now also have the opportunity to place for sale/wanted ads and log-in with a password to the ‘members only area’ where they can access technical information sheets and EBAA association documents.

EBAA participates in Canberra Boating Event May 15th 2010

The EBAA will participate in the the 2010 National Marine Swap & Regatta, which will be held on Saturday, May 15th at the shores of Lake Burley Griffin (Lotus Bay, next to Canberra Yacht Club).

Eco Boats Australia will also be present and visitors will have the chance to see a Duffy electric boat on the lake and check out the Torqeedo Travel foldable electric outboard motor and Bellmann Aquapella inboard motor.

13 – 21 March 2010: Try Electric Boating Week in Sydney

Come and see for yourself how relaxing it is to be out on the water in an electric boat!

Following last year’s successful edition during Sydney Harbour Week, Eco Boats Australia organises ‘Try Electric Boating Week’ again this year.

People are welcome at Northbridge Marina (by appointment only) to try electric boats themselves at a greatly reduced rental rate. For those interested they will explain how an electric boat works and show you a typical electric boat set-up, drive systems and batteries.
Try Electric Boating Week will run from Saturday 13 until Sunday 21 March 2010.
Up to 8 people per boat - No licence required - Bookings essential.

February 2010 - EBAA Presentation for Alternative Technology Association

On 9 February the EBAA’s Secretary Steven Mullie and business member Armin Pauza from Lithium Batteries Australia held a presentation on electric boating and battery technology for the ATA Sydney branch.

Various topics were discussed, such as the history of electric boating, various boat models and applications, inboard and outboard electric drive systems, development in battery technology such as Lithium and options to convert an existing boat to clean & quiet electric propulsion.

Future talks will be announced on this website. If your local ATA or EV branch or sustainability group is interested in a presentation on electric boats, please contact us through info@electricboats.org.au to discuss the options.

Happy New Year!
First of all the EBAA wishes all its members and visitors an electric 2010, we look forward to seeing you out on the water!

New sections have been added to the EBAA website. In the ‘Feature Articles’ section articles on a range of topics related to electric boating can be found. New articles will be added as they appear, so check regularly for updates!

The section ‘Field visits to Members’ will feature articles on EBAA members and interviews. We endeavour to regularly visit one of our members and report. Articles on visits to both Business members and Individual members will appear in this section, so check regularly for updates!
